Ruling Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has blamed BNP for trying to turn peaceful atmosphere into chaos ahead of the next parliamentary election due late this year.
“At present, a congenial atmosphere to hold the election exists in the country. But, BNP and its allies have been active to turn this peaceful environment into terrifying chaos,” Quader said on Friday (Aug 17).
Speaking to media after visiting the city’s Mohakhali bus terminal, Quader said, “With the help of a section of media, BNP has been hatching conspiracy like it did so during the 1/11.”
The road and transport minister, however, ruled out any possibility of BNP’s involvement in the polls-time administration.
“They (BNP) have no representation in the current parliament, so we are not thinking about this either.”
“The Election Commission will hold the election in line with the Constitution,” Quader said.
