Bangladesh has registered a total of 2.22 billion minutes of call drop in September 2017 to September 2018 with Grameenphone alone contributed 1.03 billion minute. FACEBOOKThe top court deferred its order to Nov 25 on a petition filed by the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) seeking a stay on the High Court order that issued an injunction on its move to realise Tk 125.80 billion due from GP.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain said a seven-member full bench will pass the order on the issued on that day.

Advocate AM Aminuddin and Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh took part in the hearing for GP, while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Barrister Khandaker Reza-E-Raquib moved the case for the state.

A High Court division bench comprising Justice AKM Abdul Hakim and Justice Fatema Najib had passed the interim order on Oct 17, allowing an appeal filed by the mobile phone operator against a lower court order.

BTRC on Apr 2 demanded around Taka 125.80 billion from GP as due in different items. The telecom operator later filed a case with the lower court, seeking a temporary injunction on realizing the money. But the court on August 28 scrapped the plea of GP, making it to file an appeal with the High Court.
