DRMC probe report with ministry

File photo of Nayeemul AbrarThe probe committee formed by the Dhaka Residential Model College (DRMC) authorities over the death of one of its students has filed its report to the education ministry.
"The probe panel filed its report after concluding the investigation on Nov 7. It has been forwarded to the education ministry," DRMC principal Brigadier General Kazi Shameem Farhad told Bangla Tribune on Saturday (Nov 9).
The probe panel has tried to find out the what really happened, he added.
On Nov 1, a ninth-grader non-residential student of DRMC, Nayeemul Abrar, was electrocuted by a power generator during a program organized by Kishor Alo, youth supplement of leading newspaper Prothom Alo on the school premises.
The accident happened when Nayeemul, unfortunately, went close to the live wires set up for a power generator behind the main stage.
As soon as he was electrocuted, he was checked by two on-duty doctors at the venue. Ascertaining the gravity of the situation, the doctors sent Nayeemul to a Mohakhali hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
During the whole process of sending Abrar to the hospital, and till the time they heard the news of Nayeemul's death, none of the people from the organizers called off the program and wanted to know the situation of the victim.
Meanwhile, DRMC formed a three-member probe committee over the incident and asked to report within the next seven days.
On Nov 6, Nayeemul's father filed a case filed against Prothom Alo Editor Matiur Rahman with a Dhaka court.
On the day, the court also ordered Sher-E-Bangla Nagar police to exhume the body of Nayeemul to conduct an autopsy and report to it on Dec 1.
