At least four people have been injured as top leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) came under attack in Dhaka University (DU), which the BNP’s student wing claimed was carried out by the activists of ‘Muktijuddho Mancha’.
The incident took place on the Madhur Canteen premises of the university around 12:15pm on Sunday (Oct 20).
JCD DU unit’s Assistant Organizing Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir alleged that activists of Muktijuddho Mancha attacked when their top leaders were coming out from the eatery, frequented by student activists and leaders.
Mancha leaders hurled abuses at two JCD leaders and assaulted activist Kaneta Yalamlam, Nasir said.
The injured were taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for first aid and later shifted to Islami Bank Hospital.
Dismissing the allegation of assault, Muktijuddho Mancha President Aminul Islam Bulbul, however, admitted of an argument followed by a scuffle.
“Chhatra Dal activists were raising anti-Liberation slogans,” he said.
