Hospitals take in 248 new dengue patients in 24hrs

FILE PHOTO/SAZZAD HOSSAINA total of 248 dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals across Bangladesh in the 24 hours till 8am Thursday (Oct 17), says the health department.
Of them, 72 patients were admitted in Dhaka and 176 in districts outside Dhaka.
The Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room at the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said in a statement that the number of patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals in the country was 1,101.
A total of 98 dengue patients have died across Bangladesh between Jan 1 and Oct 17, according to their own collected data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be around 186, so far.
As many as 439 patients were currently receiving treatment in 41 government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas 662 people were undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, the DGHS data said.
Since Jan 1 and Oct 17, as many as 92,998 people have been affected by dengue.
Among those admitted, a total of 91,651 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
