The celebrations were held at ULAB’s Campus-A auditorium where a cultural program by the university alumni followed by a formal event took place.
Planning Minister MA Mannan attended the program as the chief guest while Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB) President Kabir Hossain attended as the special guest.
Stressing on the contribution of private universities to the education sector, Planning Minister MA Mannan said, “It often comes up that private universities won’t get equal facilities as the public ones. I’ve never seen it like this. Any investment in the education sector will only serve for the development of the nation.”
ULAB Board of Trustees President and founder Kazi Shahid Ahmed related the story of how ULAB was established 15 years ago and his persistence towards it.

Reminiscing about his ULAB journey, board of trustees Vice President Kazi Anis Ahmed said, “My father and board President Kazi Shahed Ahmed made me director of the project. Back then there was an order from the government that the university would be black listed if it wasn’t opened within October which was not a lot of time.”
“I wasn’t scared even for a moment,” he said and added that it was solely due to the support he had received with the endeavor.
He said that the students who started at ULAB at the beginning probably didn’t get a lot of facilities but left with a unique experience.
He added that 15 years was not a long time for a university as an educational institute like that is for another 1500 years.
