War crimes: Five Gaibandha men to walk the gallows

International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)The war crimes tribunal has sentenced five people to death for crimes against humanity, including murder, rape and arson, during the 1971 Liberation War in Gaibandha.
A three-member panel of the International Crimes Tribunal led by Justice Shahinur Islam delivered the verdict.
The convicts are Md Ranju Mia, Abdul Jabbar Mondol, Md Jasijar Rahman Khoka, Md Abdul Wahed Mondol and Md Momtaz Ali Bepari.
Ranju was in the docks when the tribunal announced its decision on Tuesday (Oct 15) while the others were tried as fugitives to justice.

The tribunal on Jul 21 kept the judgement on CAV, curia advisari vult (a Latin legal term meaning the court awaits judgement), as the hearing in the case was concluded on that day.
The first tribunal on May 17, 2018, framed four charges of crimes against humanity against the accused including abduction, confinement, torture and murder.
All the accused were supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami and later joined Razakar Bahini as the war began in 1971.
