“Sohel married Hashi this January and after four months, divorced due to incompatibility; after divorce, Hashi became mentally unstable. She took work at an NGO but Sohel used to harass her and demand money from her,” said the senior RAB officer.
On May 1, Sohel forced himself into Hashi’s flat and demanded money and when the latter refused, Sohel began beating her. At one point, Hashi lost consciousness and then, Sohel bludgeoned her with a brick. Later, he took Tk 30000 from the almirah and left”
The landlord took Hashi to the Suhrawardy Hospital where she died in intensive care on May 7.
