BANGLA TRIBUNE/Rafsan JaniWorkers of an apparel factory have blocked the road near their factory at Dhaka’s Tejgaon for unpaid wages causing traffic to go haywire at the city’s Mohakhali and Moghbazar.
More than a hundred workers of a  Nassa Group factory blocked the Satrasta Road around 9am on Thursday (Sept 12) and started demonstrating for due salaries.
BANGLA TRIBUNE/Rafsan JaniThe protests created long tailback of vehicles on the roads at the capital’s Mohakhali and Moghbazar.
“Workers have been demonstrating for back pay since the morning. Additional forces have been deployed to avoid any untoward incident,” OC Fazlul Haque of Tejgaon Industrial Zone police station told Bangla Tribune.
BANGLA TRIBUNE/Rafsan Jani“We are trying to persuade the demonstrators to leave the road as well as efforts are on to get in touch with the factory management,” he said.
According to the police officer, tension among workers started to build up since Wednesday night, when they had taken to the streets. “We, however, then managed to leave them the road. But they have gathered in the morning again," he said.
