The file photo shows Supreme Court Bar Association Secretary MA Mahbub Uddin Khokon. There are severe allegations against several Supreme Court justices in addition to the three who have been temporarily barred from duty, said Supreme Court Bar Association Secretary MA Mahbub Uddin Khokon.
He made the claim while addressing the media at the association’s office on Thursday (Aug 22).
Earlier, several sources at the Supreme Court administration confirmed that three judges of the top court have been prevented from performing their duties as allegations of graft surfaced against them.
Justices Salma Masud Chowdhury, Quazi Reza-Ul Hoque and AKM Zahirul Hoque have been barred from hearing matters.
On May 16, allegations of intervening in a lower court case and reversing a decree surfaced against the bench of justices Salma Masud Chowdhury and AKM Zahirul Hoque.
AG Mahbubey Alam moved the Appellate Division saying that the aforementioned bench illegally intervened and changed the verdict by issuing a decree in a loan-related case of National Bank.
Following Alam’s allegations, an Appellate Division bench led by Syed Mahmud Hossain scrapped all the decrees and orders of that case.
