Nearly 2,100 dengue cases reported across country on Eid day

REUTERSAn estimated 842 patients have been admitted with dengue to hospitals of Dhaka on Monday (Aug 12) as the nation observes Eid-ul-Azha while another 1,251 patients were admitted to hospitals outside the capital.  

The Emergency Health Operations Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the information.

According to DGHS, 51 percent of the patients have been newly admitted while 49 of the patients have been released after treatment in the past week between Aug 6 and 12.

A total of 43,271 people have been infected with the fever from January till now while an estimated 35,225 patients have so far been released after treatment, it said.

The total number of patients being treated for the fever in hospitals across the country on Monday stands at 8,006 which is 9 percent less than the estimate the day before  

The number of new dengue cases being reported outside Dhaka was rising, the directorate said.

According to the data received from the Control Room of DGHS, the number of cases reported in Dhaka stood at 1,159 while that reported outside Dhaka stood at 1,167 on Aug 8.

The number of patients being treated in Dhaka stands at 842 on Monday while the number outside Dhaka has risen to 1,251.
