In Dhaka, an alleged female child-lifter has been killed in a lynch-mob attack.
The incident was reported around 8.45am on Saturday (Jul 20) from North Badda kitchen market area, said police.
The victim is yet to be identified.
“In suspicion, agitating mob found a woman as a child-lifter and gave her a thrashing,” Badda police OC Rafiqul Islam told Bangla Tribune.
“Being informed, police rescued the woman and sent her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctor declared her dead on arrival,” said Islam.
In Narayanganj, an unknown youth was beaten to death by a mob at Siddhirganj upazila in the morning.

Witnesses said the youth was found holding the hands of a schoolgirl around 8:30am.

As locals asked him about his relations with the girl, he failed to give any satisfactory reply, prompting them to suspect him as a child lifter, Hridoyar Ahmed, a local school teacher.

At one stage, the angry mob beat him mercilessly that left him critically injured.

He was taken to Narayanganj General Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.

In another incident, a woman was beaten by Narayanganj locals over a child-lifting rumour at Shapla Chattar in the upazila.

Locals said the woman, Sharmin Begum, went to a house of an expat and gave a doll to a child.

Later, the locals gave her a good beating around 9am and locked her into a local primary school.

On information, police rescued the woman and took her to Narayanganj General Hospital for treatment under their custody, police said.
