Jatiya Party chief HM Ershad’s son Eric ErshadA complaint has been lodged with a police station in Dhaka over ‘threatening calls’ to the mobile phone of Jatiya Party chief HM Ershad’s son Eric Ershad.
Ershad's nephew Khaled Akhtar, also a member of Jatiya Party's presidium, said that a general diary was filed with the Gulshan Police Station on Monday (Jul 8).
“Eric Ershad has been receiving various calls identified people who threaten to abduct him,” he told Bangla Tribune.
Police said they have opened an investigation.
“Eric has failed to provide us with the numbers of the callers. He has been told to save the numbers next time,” Sub Inspector Anwar Hossain Khan told Bangla Tribune.
The alleged threats came while Ershad, the Leader of the Opposition, is undergoing treatment at Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital in critical condition.
Eric is Ershad's son with his second wife Bidisha Ershad. After his separation with Bidisha in 2005, the former military dictator took custody of Eric through a legal battle.
