Khandaker Enamul BasirSuspended Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) director Khandaker Enamul Basir has been barred from leaving the country on allegations of accepting bribe from now suspended Deputy Inspector General of police Mizanur Rahman.
ACC Director Sheikh Md Fanafillah wrote to the Additional Inspector General of Police in this regard on Wednesday (Jun 26).
“A probe has found some truth in the allegations of bribery and money laundering against the aforementioned person [Basir],” he said in the letter.
“It’s extremely important to question him and record his statement,” it added.
Fanafillah stated that Basir has been summoned by the graft watchdog but “reliable sources have revealed that he was planning to flee the country with his family” and hence it’s important to stop him from leaving the country.
