Narsingdi student Phulon Rani Barman, who was set to fire by miscreants, has succumbed to her injuries after being treated for 13 days at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
The 22-year-old was declared dead at 6:30am on Wednesday (Jun 26) by doctors at the burn unit, said Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia of the DMCH police outpost.
The body has been kept at the morgue for autopsy, he added.
The victim was a resident of Narsingdi, who cleared her HSC exams last year.
On the night of Jun 13, assailants set fire on her after pouring kerosene while she was on her way to home from the grocery shop in the district town’s Birpur neighbourhood.
She was rushed to the state-owned hospital in Narsingdi with 12 percent burns and was later transferred to Dhaka.
On Jun 14, Phulon’s father started a case against unidentified people on charges of attempted murder.
Following investigations police arrested three people, the victim’s cousin Bhabatosh Barman, Raju Sutradhar and Anand Barman. All of them have confessed before a magistrate to their involvements.
