Moazzem Hossain, a former OC of Feni`s Sonagazi police.

The cyber tribunal has ordered the jail authorities to provide former Sonagazi police OC Moazzem Hossain with division facility as per the jail code.
Bangladesh Cyber Tribunal Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain gave the order on Monday (Jun 24).
Moazzem’s counsel Faruk Ahmed argued that since he was a ninth-grade worker of the Bangladesh Government, he was a first-class citizen and hence should be given special division in the prison.
But Nazrul Islam Samim, who moved for the state said that since Hossain was suspended he was no longer entitled to that facility.
The judge then ordered the jail superintendent to give him divisional facility according to the jail code.
Moazzem was slapped with a lawsuit under the Digital Security Act for recording Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi’s statement against former madrasa principal Siraj-ud-Daula and leaking it in social media.
The Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) later submitted the probe report on the matter to the tribunal after which an arrest warrant against him was issued.
Following the warrant, he was on the run for 15 days. He was finally arrested from Dhaka’s Shahbag on Jun 16.
The same tribunal denied his bail plea on Jun 17 and ordered him to be sent to prison.
Nusrat, who was an Alim examinee, suffered 80% burns when she was set on fire on Apr 6 on the roof of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa, for refusing to withdraw sexual assault charges against now suspended madrasa principal Siraj-ud-Daula.
After she was set on fire, her family filed another case against eight people, including Siraj, on Apr 8.
The 18-year-old girl died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Apr 10, after battling with burn injuries for five days.
