The High Court has granted permanent bail to former lawmaker Amanur Rahman Khan Rana—in a case filed over the killing of two Juba League activists in 2012.
The bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday (Jun 19).
Advocate Mansurul Haque Chowdhury represented Rana while Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Basir Ullah represented the state.
Rana has been linked to murders of two Baghil union Juba League leaders—Mohammad Shamim and Mohammad Mamun—who went missing on July 16, 2012.
The following day, Shamim's mother filed a general diary with Tangail Sadar police station.
Later, police arrested several suspects over the incident when two of the arrestees—Shahadat Hossain, 16 and Hiron Mia, 27—said that both of the Juba League leaders had been murdered on MP Rana's orders.
