Take stern measures over using chemicals on fruits: HC

The joint bench of justices, FRM Nazmul Ahsan and KM Kamrul Kader gave the order on Tuesday (Jun 18) following a writ hearing.
The court expressed indignation over delay in buying latest machine to detect chemical in fruits.
Hearing on behalf of writ was by advocate Manzil Morshed while state was represented by Deputy Attorney General ABM Abdullah-Al-Mahmud Bashar.
At that time of the hearing, the court expressed dissatisfaction over the testing report of Formalin level on fruits done by Bangladesh Standard Testing Institute (BSTI).
Earlier, on May 20, the High Court ordered a monitoring team to ensure chemicals are not used in fruit markets and bazaars.
On Apr 9, the High Court also ordered the deployment of law enforcers under a magistrate to prevent the usage of harmful chemicals on fruits at mango gardens in Rajshahi.
After implementing the order, Rajshahi divisional commissioner and DIG were asked to submit reports.
Later, the Rajshahi police commissioner submitted a report stating that the order was implemented.
