Terror activity monitoring group SITE Intelligence reports that Middle East- based militant outfit the Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack on a police patrol car in Dhaka.
Three people, including Assistant Sub-Inspector Rasheda Akhter, rickshaw driver Lal Mia and a pedestrian, have been injured after police pick up van near Malibagh caught fire after an explosion on Sunday (May 26).
The attack took place late on Sunday (May 26), when a Dhaka Metropolitan Police vehicle caught fire after an explosion. Police had then said they suspect it to be crude bomb attack.
Three people, including a policewoman, were injured in the attack.

"Two fire-fighting units rushed to the scene soon after the fire was reported.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Rasheda Aktar, who was in the car, and a rickshaw-puller and a pedestrian were taken to the Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital,” Kamrul Islam, duty officer of Fire Service Control Room, told Bangla Tribune.
ASI Md Syed Ali of Paltan police station, who was at the scene, said, "Some kind of explosive was thrown at the back of the car.
On Apr 30, two traffic police constables and one community traffic member were injured in a blast in Dhaka's Gulistan area – a few hours after two people were killed in a blast in a suspected militant den, also in Dhaka. However, in their second claimed attack in Bangladesh in more than two years, IS said they "detonated an explosive device" on a group of police, according to SITE Intelligence Group.
