Police officer, 2 others injured in attack on DMP vehicle

Injured Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Rasheda Akter after an explosives blast in Malibagh intersection area of Dhaka on May 26, 2019 COURTESYThree people, including an assistant sub-inspector of Dhaka metro police (DMP), were injured after a police vehicle was reportedly attacked with a crude bomb.
The incident was reported on Sunday when a blast hit a DMP pick-up truck parked under the Malibagh flyover in the capital.
The vehicle caught fire immediately after the incident.
"Two fire-fighting units rushed to scene soon after it was reported went to the scene. Assistant Sub-Inspector Rasheda Aktar, who was in the car, and two pedestrians were taken to the Rajarbagh Police Lines Hospital,” Kamrul Islam, duty officer of Fire Service Control Room, told Bangla Tribune.

A team of the CID (Criminal Investigation Department) is conducting crime scene investigations."
The incident comes on the same day DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia assured citizens of heightened security ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
On Apr 30, two traffic police constables and one community traffic member were injured in a blast in Dhaka's Gulistan area – a few hours after two people were killed in a blast in a suspected militant den, also in Dhaka.
According to a statement in the Site Intelligence Group, the Islamic State claimed the attack on the law enforcers.
