Counterfeit medicine worth Tk 10 million has been impounded by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)’s mobile court from the Mitford Hospital area in Old Dhaka.
During the drive on Thursday (May 23), RAB was assisted by the medicine administrative department.
At this time, three medicine traders were given three separate sentences. In addition, 11 pharmacies were fined Tk 2.4 million.
RAB officials say, based on a tip off, a team from RAB-10, led by executive magistrate Sarwar Alam, carried out a drive at the Mitford medicine market.
Several shops were fined for selling fake medicine along with real ones.
Since these medicines can result in death, 11 offending traders were given a variety of penalties.
