Four get death for murdering Kamrangirchar man

Representational imageA special tribunal in Dhaka has sentenced four people including a woman to death for killing a man in Dhaka's Kamrangirchar in 2013.
Judge Md Abu Zafor Md Kamruzzaman of Dhaka's Speedy Trial Tribune-1 handed the order on Thursday (May 23).
The death row convicts are: Swarna Akter Kakoli, Anwar Hossain Mollah, Md Sharif Matbbar and Ibrahim Khalil.
Of them, Sharif and Khalil were tried in absentia.
According to case documents, Kakoli and Sharif called Monir Hossain to their residence on Apr 17, 2013 following previous enmity.
They then strangled him to death with a pillow and slit his throat with a knife.
Later, the convicts dismembered the body parts and threw those into the Buriganga River.
Monir’s first wife Hasina Begum identified the body after police recovered the body parts.
Later, she filed a murder case on Apr 17 with Kamrangirchar police.
On May 14, 2014, police pressed charges against four.
After examining all the records and 23 witnesses among 39, the tribunal gave it verdict on Thursday.
