HC orders monitoring fruit markets

Mango. BANGLATRIBUNE/Nashirul IslamThe High Court (HC) ordered authorities concerned to form teams to monitor fruit markets and warehouses across the country so that none can use chemicals on fruits on Monday (May 20), reports BSS.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice FRM Nazmul Ahasan and Justice KM Kamrul Kader passed the order after holding hearing on a supplementary petition filed by rights group Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh (HRPB). The court asked Inspector General of Police, Director General of RAB,
Chairman and director of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) to form the teams within next seven days. It also asked submit a report on this by June 18.
The High Court on Apr 9 had ordered the authorities concerned to deploy police within seven days in major mango orchards across the country including Rajshahi to prevent use of chemicals on mangoes.
