Supreme-court lawyer, barrister Saidul Huq Sumon has lodged a case against former OC of Feni’s Sonagazi police under the cyber tribunal.

The OC has been accused under clause 26 of the Digital Security Act. The complaint was made against the OC for video-recording Nusrat Jahan Rafi’s tearful statement at the police station which later spread via social media.

The complaint was made on Monday (Apr 15) at the court of Justice Jaglul Hossain.

The OC recorded Nusrat’s statement without following the rule and at that time there wasn’t any other woman or lawyer at the OC’s room.

The police have said that legal steps can be taken against someone for recording without following any rules.

The principal of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Degree Madrasa Siraj ud Doula is accused of sexually molesting Nusrat Akhter Rafi. When Nusrat lodged a complaint at the police station, she was threatened and told to withdraw the case but when she didn’t, the girl was burnt.

Nusrat sustained 80 percent burn injuries and died in hospital on Apr 10.
