Supreme Court Bar Association polls end

The two-day poll of the Supreme Court Bar Association for 2019-20 session was ended at 5.30 pm on Thursday (Mar 14).
“The voting was held peacefully and in a festive mood through 44 polling booths which began at 10 am and continued till 5.30 pm with one hour interval in the middle,” election management committee member Advocate Qazi Joynal Abedin said.
Supreme Court Bar superintendant Nimesh Chandra Das said a total of 33 candidates took part in the election against 14 posts. Of them, seven were secretarial posts and seven executive members, BSS quoted Abedin as saying.
A total of 2,970 out of total 7,825 voters exercised their franchise on the first day of voting. Senior lawyer AY Moshiuzzaman conducted the poll as chief election commissioner.
AM Amin Uddin and Abdun Nur Dulal are vying for the posts of president and general secretary respectively from pro-independent White Panel, while AJ Mohammad Ali and Mahbub Uddin Khokon for the posts of president and general secretary from pro-BNP-Jamaat Blue Panel.
