160 kilometers of streets of the extended areas in DSCC have already been installed with six thousand and six hundreds of LED lights, which will be kindled on 1 April. FILE PHOTOLight emitting diode (LED) lights will be installed on streets of Dhaka South City Corporation’s (DSCC) extended areas within this April, said Mohammad Sayeed Khokon, mayor of DSCC.
His remarks came this Thursday afternoon (Mar 14), from the reception program of the newly elected ward councilors, arranged in the capital’s Konapara area.
The mayor also said, “160 kilometers of streets of the extended areas in DSCC have already been installed with six thousand and six hundreds of LED lights, which will be kindled on 1 April.”
However, the abovementioned areas will still be in want of ten thousand more lights, which will be provided within the next two months, Khokon added.
The DSCC mayor further informed that 75% of the reconstructive work of the new wards’ roads have already been finished, and will reach its completion within June 2019.
“A master plan has been made for the wards of DSCC, which includes the construction of a 400-feet-long road stretching from Jatrabari to Dokkhinkhan,” he further said.
Khokon claimed that their three-step master plan will make the newly made wards appear just as developed as the likes of Gulshan and Banani.
In the reception program, the mayor was accompanied by Habibur Rahman Molla, local MP; Shahe Alam Murad, General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan (South) Awami League; Abul Hasnat and President of South Metropolitan Awami League, along with the newly elected ward councilors.
