REUTERS/File PhotoLike most regular cases, charge sheet is submitted to court following a probe for cyber-crime cases. Some immediate steps are taken while based on need, cases are lodged and other moves taken by cyber-crime specialists.
To fight cyber-crime, Lawful Interception Cell, RAB and CID are working along with the National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre, NTMC, under the home ministry.
Till 27 January, they closed 1332 fake pages and 752 Facebook ID’s bearing the name of the PM.
“Around 1500 websites related to Bitcoin and pornography have been blocked, say cyber security officials of DMP.
BTRC will block while the police will detect sites that need to be blocked.
NTMC’s director, Brigadier Ziaul Ahsan, told Bangla Tribune, “NTMC takes initiatives to prevent spread of fake news via Facebook.”
Additional deputy commissioner of Cyber Security and Crime Division, Nazmul Islam, says, “We have been giving support since 2015 and our manpower has increased since cyber-crimes have risen phenomenally.”
One can come in person and lodge a complaint or send their issues by e-mail or talk over the phone.
In many cases, cyber complaints do to go up to court because they are found to be family matters and people involved do not want to be exposed, he commented.
“When someone’s Facebook ID is hacked the victim wants to get back the page instead of trying to find who hacked it.”
We also provide support to those who become victims of fraud in BKash and Rocket, said the police officer.
