A Britain court has sentenced a Bangladeshi to 10 years imprisonment for rape.

Convicted Mohammad Mia, 38, was handed the term by Carlisle Crown Court on Friday (Jan 18) in a Dec 2017 incident which saw another Bangladeshi Kabir Hossain, 41, convicted earlier.

On the night before Christmas Dec 24, 2017, a drunken woman was gang-raped in Northern England’s Carlisle.

“Mohammad Mia’s name will be listed in the sex offenders’ register permanently. The perpetrators must be punished for raping a woman,” said Judge James Edkin while passing the verdict.

Police arrested Mohammad Mia on Nov 5 after they identified him through a DNA test.

Mia, who worked in an Indian restaurant, hails from Sylhet.
