The scooty of Shahanaj Akhter, a biker of ride-sharing service UBER, has been recovered from Narayanganj.

The alleged thief, Zubaidul Islam Johny, has been held and the bike was recovered around 3.30am on Wednesday (Jan 16) from the district’s Fatullah, said police.

“The bike was recovered after conducting a drive in the area and we returned from Narayanganj on Wednesday morning with the bike. We detained the thief during the drive,” DMP Deputy Commissioner of Tejgaon Division Abu Tyab Md Arif Hossain told Bangla Tribune.

“Details will be briefed later in the day,” added Arif Hossain.

On Tuesday evening, the scooty of Shahanaj was hijacked by Johny.

According to the general diary filed by Shahanaj with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Polie, one Johny introduced himself as a driver of a ridesharing service, and promised to avail her full-time employment.

He met the person on Tuesday (Jan 15), and after driving around the city for a while, was having a cup of tea with him in front of Rajdhani High School in Manik Miah Avenue.

He wanted to test-ride the scooter and she gave it to him. Johny took off with the ride.
