One of the prime suspects in the killing of Xulhaz Mannan and his friend Mahbub Rabbi Tonoy has been arrested.
25-year-old Asadullah was arrested late on Tuesday (Jan 15), Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Media) Masudur Rahman told Bangla Tribune on Wednesday (Jan 16).
Police said that Asadullah was directly involved in the killings of Xulhaz and Tonoy. He was one of the trainers of banned militant outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team. He is known with some aliases Fakhrul, Foysal, Zakir, Sadik.
On Jul 22, 2018, another suspect, Sheikh Abdullah alias Jubair alias Zayed alias Zabed alias Abu Omayer, was arrested in connection with the murders.
On Apr 25, 2016, Xulhaz, a LGBT activist and a local employee of USAID and his friend, a theatre activist, Mahbub Tonoy were hacked to death by miscreants at the former’s Kalabagan residence in the capital.
