Seven held for spreading anti-state propaganda

The arrestees are identified as Md Rabiul Islam, 42, Md Akhlakuzzaman Ansari, 43, Tofazzal Hossain Helal, 40, Tanvir Hasan Mohon, 22, Md Yousuf, 30, Abu Raihan Al Biruni Puskin, 43 and Md Abul Kalam, 34.The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has detained seven people from several regions of the country on charges of spreading anti-state propaganda in the social media.
The arrests were made from Rajshahi, Chattogram, Madaripur, Cumilla, Bogura, Kishoreganj and the capital’s Uttara in different drives conducted from 4pm of Tuesday (Jan 8) to 7pm of Wednesday (Jan 9), said the elite police unit.
The arrestees are identified as Md Rabiul Islam, 42, Md Akhlakuzzaman Ansari, 43, Tofazzal Hossain Helal, 40, Tanvir Hasan Mohon, 22, Md Yousuf, 30, Abu Raihan Al Biruni Puskin, 43 and Md Abul Kalam, 34.
“The seven people were involved in spreading anti-state propaganda, false, fabricated information on social media against several important people of the country including the prime minister,” RAB media wing spokesperson Senior Assistant Director Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan told Bangla Tribune.

RAB will take legal actions against the perpetrators, added the elite force official.
