Two people have been killed when a truck run over them in the capital’s Shonir Akhra.
The incident was reported around 4.45am on Wednesday (Dec 26) at Zia Sharani area, said police.
The deceased are 55-year-old Harun-ur-Rashid and 30-year-old Abul Bashar.
“Harun-ur-Rashid died on the spot while Abul Bashar was declared dead when he was rushed to the hospital,” said Dhaka Medical College Hospital police camp Inspector Baccu Mia.
“The truck has been seized though the driver managed to flee from the scene,” Baccu Mia added.
A witness, Habib, said that the truck losing its control run over Harun-ur-Rashid and Abul Bashar when they were standing by the road. Harun-ur-Rashid died on the spot and Abul Bashar succumbed to his injuries after he was taken to the hospital.
