Cyclone ‘Phethai’ might trigger cold spell

Distant cautionary signal 2 for the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra has been triggered. The weather might get colder over the next few days with a significant drop in the temperature caused by deep depression in the Bay of Bengal which has intensified into cyclonic storm ‘Phethai.’
According to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department forecast, some areas in Dhaka, Khulna, Barisal, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Rangpur and Mymensingh might experience light drizzle.
Meanwhile, the distant cautionary signal 2 for the maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra has been triggered.
All fishing boats and trawlers in the north Bay have been advised to keep close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
The cyclone has moved 1,470 km north-west from Chattogram sea port, 1,415 km north-west from Cox’s Bazar sea port, 1,350 km north-west from Mongla port and 1,345 km north-west from Payra port, according to weather expert Hafizur Rahman.
He added that it might intensify and move north or north-east.
