Viqarunnisa students continue protests in front of it`s Baily Road Campus for second day on Wednesday (Dec 5).

The students of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College have been continuing their protest over the suicide of 15-year-old Aritree Adhikari for the second day.

From 9am on Wednesday, the students took stand in front of the institution’s Bailey Road campus.

The protesting students are demanding the submission of the investigation report within three days according to the assurance of the Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid.

They also demanded the resignation of the principal and the institution’s governing body.

The students termed their classmate’s death as murder and demanded exemplary punishment against the authorities concerned. They are carrying placards with the slogans: 'You did not forgive us, we will not forgive you now', 'We want justice', 'We want justice of Aritree’s death’.



Demonstrations erupted outside the school’s main campus on Dhaka’s Bailey Road since Tuesday (Dec 4) morning.

The family of the 15-year-old girl claimed she committed suicide after the principal insulted her and the parents of because she had cheated in an exam.

The principal, however, refuted the allegation of insulting the parents and said that they were called only to inform about that Aritree was barred from an exam on Sunday after she was found to be cheating by using a mobile phone.

The High Court has ordered the formation of a panel headed by a public servant to probe the incident of Aritree’s suicide.

Two separate probe panel has been formed by the education ministry and Viqarunnisa authorities with a three-day deadline to submit reports.
