Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has interrogated Transcom Group’s Chairman and CEO Latifur Rahman on allegations of money laundering and illegally amassing wealth.

Transcom group chief Rahman was seen leaving the ACC headquarters around 5pm Thursday (Oct 18) after reaching there at 3pm.

On Oct 11, the graft watchdog served him with a notice instructing to appear at its headquarters at 10am, Oct 18 with his national ID and attested copy of passport.

According to the ACC, Latifur and his family have made billions by not paying utility connection bills and VAT of businesses under the group.

Transcom holds majority stake in two companies, Media Star and Media World, which respectively publish top Bengali daily 'Prothom Alo' and English newspaper 'The Daily Star'.

Apart from stakes in the media, the Transcom Group has forayed into beverage, pharmaceuticals, insurance, electronics, baby food and consumer goods, among others.

The group owns soft drinks Seven Up, Pepsi, Mirinda, Aquafina, SKF Bangladesh Limited, KFC, and Pizza Hut.
