Supreme Court Bar Association has decided for a grand rally with all lawyers who are in favour of people’s rights and a neutral election.
This was declared by association president, Zainul Abedin.
In the past, the Bangladesh Supreme Bar Association played a facilitating role in ensuring freedom of judiciary and bringing down an autocratic regime, said Abedin.
“At this critical juncture in the history of the country, a meeting of the association was held on 14 October with several decisions.”
These decisions include 1. Felicitations to former association member, Dr. Kamal, for leading the 'Jatiya Okyio Front' aimed at establishing democracy in the country, 2.Holding a grand rally to uphold citizens’ rights. 3. Holding the rally after talking to the masses and human rights bodies to underline the need for free, fair and neutral polls 4. Forming a liaison committee with supreme-court lawyers who are involved in this democratic campaign, 5. Meeting the president and discussing the long-held demand for recovering land for a multi-storied building.
