The High Court has extended jailed BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s bail in the Zia orphanage trust graft case until Oct 23.

The Bench of Justice M. Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md. Mostafizur Rahman passed the order on Monday (Oct 15).

AJ Mohammad Ali, Zainul Abedin and Barrister AKM Ehsanur Rahman moved for  Khaleda while the State was represented by Md Khurshid Alam Khan.

The same court is hearing Khaleda’s acquittal plea in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case, for which the former prime minister is serving a five-year term since Feb 8 when the sentence was announced by a special court.

She was kept at the capital’s old jailhouse until Oct 6 when she was moved to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital for medical treatment.
