A Malaysian national has been detained with seven kilograms of gold at the Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka Customs House Deputy Commissioner Othello Chowdhury told Bangla Tribune.

The detainee has been identified as Chan Gee Keong, who arrived in Dhaka Airport at 10pm Monday in a Malindo Air flight from Malaysia.

Chowdhury said that they received a tip beforehand and found the gold bars wrapped in carbon paper and yellow tape inside a jacket when Keong was searched.

Market value for the seized gold is approximately Tk 35 million, added Chowdhury.
