To be constructed by Dhaka South City Corporation, DSCC, at a cost of around Tk. 58 crore and over 29 acres of land, the park will be called ‘Anger appeasement park’.
It’s believed that 20 per cent of the work has already been completed.
DSCC officials say that to get a temporary respite from the grime plus drudgery of concrete living, people may come to the park to commune with nature.
Engineers say that the park will be completed by June, 2019.
“The park will provide much needed mental refreshment to people; there will be wi-fi zone, food corner and music centres to dive into nostalgia,” said DSCC mayor, Sayeed Khokon.
However the closure of the whole park for the construction of the new one has irked locals. They say: “there’s no point in closing the whole area.”

City corporations make a lot of promises before a new project, but sometimes, cannot live up to them, some lamented.
General-secretary of Bangladesh Institute of Planners, BIP, Adil Mohammad Khan, told Bangla Tribune: “the facilities promised need to be provided.”
