The BNP claims that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is concerned over of its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir’s trip to the United Nations.
The remarks by senior BNP leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain came during a media call at the party headquarters on Sunday.
He said, “The prime minister is concerned of the secretary general’s trip. That’s why she has been making remarks on it.”
Responding to Hasina’s comment that BNP weren’t invited by the UN, Hossain said, “There’s no such rule that you cannot go to the UN unless invited. The reality is the prime minister is troubled about the trip.”
“Our secretary general has not only gone to the UN, he has visited the US state department as well. Perhaps, the news of his trip in some way discomforted her,” added the National Standing Committee member.
On the incarcerated BNP chief Khaleda Zia’s treatment, Hossain said, “We are disappointed that her personal doctors were not included in the medical board.”
Claiming Khaleda will not get proper medical care under the board’s supervision he said that, the home minister assured them to keep the BNP chief’s doctors in the panel.
On the upcoming polls, Hossain said that, election without Khaleda Zia will not be free and fair.
“BNP will take part in the polls only if Khaleda Zia is released,” he added.
