HC rejects Amir Khasru’s writ petition challenging ACC notice

High Court has rejected a writ petition filed by senior BNP leader Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury challenging Anti Corruption Commission’s notice.
A HC bench consisting of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice KM Hafizul Alam passed the order on Sunday (Sept 16).
Barrister Moudud Ahmed and Advocate Joynul Abedin represented Amir Khasru in the hearing while Khurshid Alam Khan moved for ACC.
On Aug 16, anti-graft watchdog body issued a notice summoning Amir Khasru to appear in its office on Aug 28 on allegations of money laundering and ammassing wealth beyond known income sources.
The ACC notice alleges illegal transactions in billions, 5-star hotel business in pseudonym against Amir Khasru and his family members.
Khasru, on Aug 28 sought one month’s time from the ACC and the graft watchdog told him to appear on Sept 20.
Later on Sept 3, he filed a writ petition with the HC challenging the legality of the ACC’s notice that ordered him to appear before it.
