Unlicensed medicines seized at Dhaka airport, one held.Customs authorities at the Dhaka airport have seized unlicensed medicines on Sunday from a passenger coming from Egypt.
The seized medicine’s estimated market value is around Tk 10 million, according to director general of customs intelligence and investigation directorate Md Shahidul Islam.
The arrestee has been identified as Md Jamal who was held at 6 in the morning on Sunday.
“Acting on a tip-off, customs officials challenged Jamal when he was trying to escape through the green channel to avoid the scanner. Later, he was held with two luggage,” said the customs official.
Five kinds of medicines which count 31,250 pills were seized which are usually used in the treatment of diabetes, bone diseases and infertility treatments.
The name and amount of the medicines are: Duphaston- 12,000 pcs, Mixtard- 2,000 pcs, Neoral 25 mg- 15,000 pcs, Neoral 50 mg- 2,000 pcs, NovoRapid- 250 pcs.
