The UN Office on Drugs and Crime defines the synthetic cannabinoid strain, known as Ethiopian marijuana, as a new psychoactive substance (NPS).Intelligence officials have seized 20kg of cannabis at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, which was delivered to Bangladesh by post from African countries of Ethiopia.

Officials of the National Security Intelligence (NSI) opened two cartons of NPS on Saturday, an NSI official told Bangla Tribune.
The cartons had been marked as suspicious after they arrived by a Jet Airways flight at the airport.
The shipment was marked for Shenin Corporation in the capital’s Monipuripara.
Process was underway to hand over the drug consignment to Department of Narcotic Control, said the official, who preferred to unnamed.
On Sept 6, officials seized 160kg of cannabis at the airport while another consignment of new drug substance weighing 460kg was seized on Aug 31.
