Cattle markets in the capital fall into danger due to a sudden rainfall on Sunday morning.
Cow sheds in many places were destroyed as wind accompanied the rain. Rainwater and animal's dust together created a disruption on mobility in the markets.
The cattle traders claimed that many haats have not maintained the instruction of setting up rain protection measures.
Hundreds of sacrificial animals were seen getting wet in the rain at Meradia cattle haat. Traders tried to cover the sheds but the gusty wind blew the effort.
The leaseholder of the Meradia haat Shah Alam told Bangla Tribune, “We tried hard to ensure safety measures but, rain and wind made it difficult for us. The number of animals exceeded the market area so that we failed to provide with sheds there.”
He also alleged that they didn’t receive any help from the city corporation authorities.
Contacted, the Principal Asset Officer of DSCC Md Abdul Malek said, “As per the leasing condition, the leaseholder must provide all the facilities.”
