Fake currencies worth Tk 4.5m in market: Police

Tk 7.5m worth of fake currencies were seized from Capital's LalbaghWith the Eid-ul-Azha ensuing within a week, fake currencies have been spread worth of Tk 4 to 4.5 millions targeting the cattle markets in the capital, said DMP Additional Commissioner (DB) Abdul Baten.
Baten revealed it during a press call at DMP office on Saturday.
Police arrested eight people for their suspected connection in making counterfeit money during a raid in capitals’ Lalbag on Friday.
The law enforcers also seized Tk 7.5 million worth of fake currencies.
DMP Press BriefingThe senior police officer said Kaiser Hamid, the mastermind of the group has been producing fake money for long with set ups in Dhaka’s Kamrangirchar and Lalbag.
Kaiser was held in number of occasions over the same offence, Baten added.
“The cost to make fake currency worth of Tk 100,000 is Tk 10,000. Then the money was sold to the whole sellers for Tk 14,000 to Tk 15,000 and the retailers were buying those at the cost of Tk 20,000 to Tk 25,000”, he said quoting the suspects.
