A construction worker was killed and another one injured when a car hit them in the capital in pre-dawn hours on Saturday, said Assistant Sub-inspector of Tejgaon Police Station Md Ali.
The victim was identified as Shafiqul Islam, 40, hailed from Sherpur’s Nalitabari.
A speeding microbus ploughed them when they were engaged in renovation work on the road in front of the prime minister’s office around 3am, said the police officer.
The injured were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital where Shafiqul was declared dead by the duty doctors.
Another injured Ismail Hossain is being treated in with critical condition, Ali added.
Police captured the microbus but, the driver managed to flee.
