Two arrested for inflammatory Facebook posts during students’ movement

Ahmad Hossain and Nazmus Saquib.CID of police have arrested two persons for spreading false rumours via social media aimed at instigating people during the students’ movement for safe roads.
The arrested, Ahmad Hossain, 19, and Nazmus Saquib, 24, were arrested from Kamrangirchar on Wednesday early morning, confirmed CID’s organised crime unit ASP, Sharmin Jahan.
“By posting inflammatory posts through Facebook, they tried to mislead the student movement,” commented the ASP.
In arresting the two persons, support was taken from advanced technology, added the officer.
“Cases under ICT law 57 (2) and 66 were lodged against them.”
All those who spread fabricated news via social media platforms and disrupted social harmony will be brought under law, the ASP observed.
