BNP leader emerges unscathed after 24 hour disappearance drama

BNP leader Mahmuda Habiba and her husband Kamal Ahmed (R)After remaining traceless for 24 hours, BNP’s chairman for information and publication committee, Mahmuda Habib, and her husband, Kamal Ahmed, have come back home.

Mahmuda Habib’s younger brother told Bangla Tribune on Aug 11 afternoon that his sister and her husband were without trace since midnight of Aug 10.

On Saturday, around 1:15 am in the morning, their return was confirmed by BNP media wing member Shairul Kabir Khan.

Quoting Habiba and her husband, Khan said: “they are back and do not have any complaints.”

On Saturday afternoon, Asif Abdullah, younger brother of Mahmuda Habib claimed that his sister and brother in law were held by RAB-4.

He also said that Uttara thana refused to take a GD over their sudden disappearance.

When Bangla Tribune contacted RAB-4 and Uttara thana they denied having any knowledge of any such detention.

On Saturday afternoon, operations officer of RAB-4, ASP Sajidul Islam, said: “we do not know anything about detaining the ones mentioned.”

Uttara thana duty officer, sub-inspector, Sujon, said: “there isn’t anyone arrested by those names.”
