Truck services have resumed after the cargo owners and workers called off the strike demanding amendments to the new road transport law, following assurances from the home minister.
The Bangladesh Truck-Covered-van Goods Transport Owner-Worker Unity Council called off the strike on Thursday (Nov 21) after a meeting with the minister.
“The cargo transport workers have gone back to work as ususal from this [Thursday] morning,” said the association’s convener Rustam Ali.
“However, bus transport owners have suspended bus services in certain districts,” he added.

He added that they have been assured their demands regarding amendments to the law will be met.
Sayedabad inter-district bus owners association chief Abul Kalam told Bangla Tribune that all cargoes bound for the eastern regions have left the terminal.
Mohakhali Bus Terminal Owners Association chief Haji Abul Kalam said that the number of transports allowed on the roads are less than usual.
