Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan has said that war criminals, controversial people and those accused of crimes against humanity will not be invited to the Victory Day programme.
The minister made the remark at a meeting held at the ministry on Wednesday (Nov 13).
“The national flag has a certain size and distorted flags cannot be used; faded, old torn flags cannot be flown either,” the minister said.
Everyone can fly the flag on Dec 16 but the next day, it has to be brought down, said the minister.
“Special security transport will be ensured for the journey to and from the Savar National Martyrs’ Memorial where the president, prime minister, cabinet members and diplomats will go to lay flower wreaths.”
“CCTV’s will also be placed at the memorial spot,” he said.
All cultural programmes need to be informed to the police seven days in advance, added the minister.
As per the home minister, other measures will include: fire service at 411 spots, medical ambulance at the memorial, placement of LED screens for people to see special programmes and illumination of the capital plus the whole country.
The minister said that on occasion of Victory Day, improved diet will be served at hospitals, jails and orphanages.
